Q: What motivated you to work in data science?
There is a lot of data around us nowadays. As Internet of Things (IoT) comes to our homes we will have much more data to analyze and make our life better, which is very exciting.
Q: What skills should business executives have, to communicate effectively with data scientists?
They should all have basic understanding of technology and statistics.
Q: How is big data changing the world?
Big data is still a buzzword. Most of the companies don’t even have big data or cannot even utilize big data even if they have it. Only the companies that are fully utilizing it are some tech companies.
Q: Would you recommend a career in data science? If yes, why?
It depends on a person’s interests. This is a field which always changes, so you need to be ready to learn new things every day.
Q: What kind of education (certification and/or degrees) do you recommend for someone entering the data science field?
Depends on your career goals. If you want to become research scientist, most of the people have PhD in quantitative or engineering field.
Q: When choosing a data science degree, what should someone look for?
Again really depends on your career goals. If you want to analyze data using BI tools, an MBA with a Data Analytics focus might be sufficient. However if you want to develop machine learning or deep learning algorithm you need to get an engineering or data science degree.
